With co-creator Tom Cluff, Tom conceptualized, created and directed "Mystic Rhythms" for Walt Disney Imagineering's 2001 new Park Tokyo Disney Sea. This live theatrical performance in an abandoned hangar that has been reclaimed by the Amazonian Rain Forest takes you on a mystical enchanting journey. Performers of all disciplines acting as indigenous inhabitants, animals and living spirits of the rainforest tell the tale of a land far from civilization.
This first Disney non-branded, non-characterized show incorporates fly by wire, bungee, Spanish web, choreography, water stunts, grand illusions, pyrotechnics and special effects. A fully working waterfall, rotating movable platforms, costume and scenic integration and an intense scenic foliage package transports the audience to the Amazonian rain forest.
In Act III the audience experiences antagonism from 3 spirits, Water, Earth and Fire. As the conflagration escalates the entire rain forest (the stage) is deluged by rain forcing the earthen waterfall to breach and extinguish the fire. This final scene culminates by engulfing the entire audience (1800 seats) in Ln2 in less than 8 seconds. This dedication to special effects and story telling have made "Mystic Rhythms" Tokyo Disney Sea's #1 rated show for the past 5 years.
